Community, Moderation, and Reddit's Content Philosophy

This module covers Reddit's unique community governance model — the volunteer moderator system, content policy evolution, and the philosophical tension between free expression and safety. With over 100,000 active communities managed by volunteers who handle roughly half of all content enforcement, Reddit's approach to moderation is unlike any other tech company. Understanding this is critical for interviews because it reveals Reddit's core values and the product challenges engineers and PMs work on daily.
